I never quite made it to Black Mountain. Summer came to a quick end and now school has become overwhelming. Compared to other math classes, abstract algebra and especially real analysis are very time consuming; I have to study for them. Real analysis is also horrible because I can't stand the textbook, Walter Rudin's Principles of Mathematical Analysis. Algebra and probability are a lot of fun, though, with even the exams being fun in probability. Japanese is still going. The second-year classes are a bit harder than before, and involve more written homework. I'm glad the quarter is almost over, so I can catch my breath.
Even though I spend almost all of my time on schoolwork, I have managed to get some cooking in. Yellow dal has become one of my favorite foods, and I've done several other Indian recipes since buying a cookbook. I'm also due to make carrot cake cupcakes for Thanksgiving. Whee!
